2. Why the grand entrance?

Coronations can be very impressive. There are different kinds of royal entrances in the Bible from the simple to the grand.

Great celebrations can occur as with Saul (1 Samuel 11:15)

Sometimes it is not so spectacular as with David (1 Samuel  2:4,5:3)

The earthly kingship of Jesus is in lowliness (Luke 19: 35-38)

Yet notice the great coronation of Jesus as King of Heaven on the Day of Pentecost. To usher this in upon earth the Holy Spirit Himself is poured out spectacularly with violent wind and tongues of fire resting on the heads of those gathered.

we saw last week the apostles laying foundations as they awaited the arrival of the Holy Spirit. While the Holy Spirit gives the power from the risen Jesus Christ the Lord, the apostles' teaching of the Gospel will provide the essential substance of the new Church.

Today we will look at the grand entrance of the Holy Spirit as the culmination of Christ's coronation as King of Heaven and Earth and the impact of this upon the Church.

God is now in His people as their God. The Holy Spirit of Christ Jesus fills them with new power to proclaim God's mighty deeds among all the people of God. Now He is building a new people belonging to Himself and sealed by the Holy Sprit. In a real sense the coronation of Christ leads to a Spirit driven coronation of Christ's people.

They are now sealed in an everlasting and unlosable covenant (Ezekiel 36: 26) and God's sanctuary is among them.

This describes the the new testament Church still. God is always with us, dwelling in us by His Spirit and empowering us to be His witnesses throughout the world.
