Honest to God

Honesty with God is always the best policy, especially in worship.

We can't tell God what He does not know, nor can we hide from God what we don't want Him to know. Thus we are called to build transparency with God.

In worship we approach God on His terms, not our own. God is spirit.

He seeks those who worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

In today's parable of the two worshipers we see that we can have delusions about worshiping God. We can be deceived about who we are, where God fits in and our view even of other worshipers.

As we come to worship it is good to reflect on such things as who God really is, how he sees things and the truth that pride takes no part in our approach to God.

The surprising twist is to see how God sees things in these two worshipers and to reflect on who is just in His sight.
